Hey everyone, it’s been quite a slow week. We got to the center on Tuesday evening and the ring wasn’t put together at all since it was rented out by a Lucha Libre promotion out of New Jersey. The ring was in shambles, but that didn’t stop us… we immediately hopped on putting it back together.

The ring we use is an 18×18 ring, and completely different from other rings i’ve helped setup. The basic frame is really simple, 4 posts, 4 support frame beams, the wood, foam, ropes and canvas. Simplistic and easy as heck to put together… unless you dont have it squared up properly.

Which sadly is what happened to us. The foam nor canvas sat properly on the frame for some reason, and it caused all types of chaos. We tightened the cables underneith the ring thinking that would help square it up– but it didn’t.

Overall we spent over an hour working on getting this ring to be squared up and ready to go… and then I had to head home.

From what I heard from Elliott he stuck around til about 3am and got thrown into the corners back and chest first for a few hours… guess its what happens with you’re best friends with the trainers. HAHA.

The next two nights were called off cause of the threat of snow. Weather is a pain in the ass.

Another week down, and it was a rough week. A lot of squats, crunches, and pushups… enough to pull a muscle and slow me down a lot.

I talked to Chad about it and let him know I had to take it slow Thursday but overall it was good. Elliott and I had to put a match together and get graded on it. It was odd at first but we started getting into it pretty well. We got put on the spot and had fun cutting promos and everything against each other and against the empty warehouse as well haha.

We both passed, a 93 for me and 94 for elliott (forgot to throw the damned arm during an arm ringer!) and will be moving on to new moves this upcoming week. Its gonna be an experience, and I cant wait to see where we go from here

Yesterday was the first day back in the ring since the Snow storm, my back is almost 100% again. With that said I was looking forward to training absolutely this week.

We got there 11pm sharp, and waited for Bob to let us in. In which we found out that all the snow caused a leak in the ceiling and there were several spots on the ring that were covered in tarps to make sure it didn’t get too messed up.

Tuesday was a full session, with plenty of surprises. Started with Squats, Pushups, and Crunches. Lord am I out of shape when it comes to pushups… I need to work on that quite a bit. The meat of training today was learning how to chain things together fluidly and accurately, thats where I tended to have the most fun so far. Hammerlocks, Arm Ringers, Headlocks, all flowing and moving from one to another reversing and chaining together nicely. I was really surprised how easy and 2nd nature it started to become.

This was also the first session with Wyndham James Winthorpe III helping us learn. It’s definately a plus having two workers help train you of varying styles. Wyndham was really thorough and pointed out where and what to do and more importantly footing and the pros and cons of where to plant yourself. It was awesomely informative and added a good counterpoint to J.C. Westlers training methods. They work really well together.

After training a bit, 1am hit and I headed home. Once home my G.F. decided she wanted to goto the Gym… so I went with and we were there til 3am or so, and today I’m surprisingly not as sore as expected! We’ll see what the next days hold.

Prologue:

Pro-Wrestling is an odd thing to be into. To be a fan of the sport is filled with up’s and downs, during the 1980’s there were large periods of extreme mainstream popularity, followed by it being a puss filled wound in the early 1990’s… then the Attitude era of the WWF hit and it became more popular than ever before.

However, during all of this there was always a troop of devoted fans who weren’t toothless hicks with nothing better to do then see some ‘rasslin and a tracker pull or two. This group, back then, would grow up to be the future of the sport on the Local, and World-wide wrestling scene. People who grew up watching Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, Ted Dibiase Sr., have now either grown out of it, or are involved in the wrestling scene in some way either by writing Blogs, running message boards, working in the back office of a federation, or even being workers themselves. As many of you might know I myself am a huge wrestling fan, as well as being a wrestler myself for quite a long time. I’ve avoided watching wrestling for many years since I was injured and couldn’t compete anymore.

Recently I’ve taken a keen interest in wrestling again; I’ve got drawn back in like so many other people have over the years. There’s no escaping it, there’s no denying it. Once you’re a true wrestling fan you’re one for life — even after years of absence from the sport.
