Things like to come back around in circles now and then. Everyone knows that. Call it Karma, Cheese Rings, Air Flavored Popcicles, or Fate-on-a-Stick but every action does have an equal and opposite reaction. You see it everywhere, with trends in TV, Fashion, Music, etc. Everything that has been done before comes back and is cool again eventually.
I saw it once again first hand when I realized that my childhood was cool and hip once again. Now there’s tons of sites out there that deal with the “retro” and the past “cool” stuff, X-Entertainment is one of the longest running sites and is run by a old friend Matt who does the retro thing better than anyone else. So props to him for that!
However one thing he hasn’t touched upon quite yet is the massive surge and influx of “My Little Pony” not only coming back, but apparently becoming some weird crazy fad yet again, and I witnessed it all right before my eyes… one day at a time… one pony at a time… and it scared me.
For those who don’t know these horse shaped demons from afar originated in 1981 when a patent was filed by Hasbro for an ornamental design animal. In 1982 they started mass production and became one of the biggest fads of the 80’s. Now Hasbro has never stopped producing My Little Pony until 1992 (U.S.) and 1995 (Internationally). Hasbro tried to revive the glady-dead horses in 1997 with “new hip” designs and “turning head action!” These were a flop cause no one cared anymore - and they stopped production a meer 2 years later. G2 Ponies bite the dust in 1999.
But apparently you can’t kill brightly colored ponies… when in 2003 the ponies came back into production… yet until around January of this year I didn’t even know there was a G2 or G3… thats when they started invading my work space one desk at a time… one horse at a time. Eventually, I assume, someone exposed the Ponies to Water and fed them after midnight because 2 days later there was 4+ ponies per desk of some of my co-workers… thats when I found out they are apparently the new hip must have trend in not only the retro 80’s child now turned mid 20’s business woman/man but also the new urban trend as well…
all I can say is WHY… Why Little Pony… why…
I guess I can’t really say much about those who collect and are pony fanatics… we’re all geeks and nerds in some little way.

Other than a pony infestation things have been a little less hectic this past week - other than losing money in a Casino out of bordom but thats a whole nother post. I want to thank Tommy for keeping the site alive during my hiatus and keeping you comic geeks out there entertained and helping me keep up on comic news since my comic boycott started (Which is yet ANOTHER post coming soon).
Weekly Recomendations:
Video Game - Fire Pro Returns (PS2); More addicting then crack heroin cheese balls - I’m so glad I have a great firepro game without a 90 page translation manual infront of me!
Movie - The King of Kong; If you love documentaries, video games, drama, beards, or nerds you’ll love this movie — just get it!
Music - Pandora.com; a living breathing radio station that picks songs you’ll prolly like? Yeah I dug it when it first started and still dig it and use it to keep my sanity at work!
TV - Lost; Lets throw the entire town of Twin Peaks onto Gilligans Island…. lets do it and make a show about it… good!
That about does it for me today. Thanks for reading!
